Hamilton County Democrats Urged To Attend Sept. 8 Caucus To Elect Nominee For County Commission Seat

  • Sunday, August 21, 2016

The Hamilton County Democratic Party (HCDP) will conduct a caucus on Thursday, Sept. 8, to elect the Democratic nominee for the District 3 Hamilton County Commission seat appearing on the Nov. 8 ballot, according to HCDP Chair Terry Lee.  The District 3 caucus is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at I.B.E.W., 3922 Volunteer Dr.

“We urge all Democrats living in District 3 to attend this meeting to elect the Democratic nominee who will represent them on the County Commission if elected on Nov.

8,” said Mr. Lee.  “The District consists of Hixson, Middle Valley, Big Ridge and Lakesite.”

The District 3 seat on the Hamilton County Commission will be vacant on Sept. 1 when current Commissioner Marty Haynes is sworn in as Hamilton County Assessor of Property after his election in early August.

Local attorney and HCDP Rules Chairman Billy Joyner will conduct the caucus.  Several District 3 residents have expressed an interest in running for the seat, but none have made a formal announcement at this time, according to Mr. Lee.

Following the caucus, the HCDP Executive Committee of precinct officers will convene.
