Ethel Viola Dennis, age 94, of Decatur, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on December 8, 2017 at Select Specialty Hospital in Powell, Tn. 

She was a daughter of the late Andy and Cora Sharpe Walker and a member of the Clear Springs Baptist Church. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jake A. Dennis; daughter, Lena Rose Dennis; and a son, John A. Dennis. 

Survivors include her son, Roy Dennis of Decatur; sisters, Pauline Emery of Memphis, JoAnn Ashburn of Dayton, Oh., Irene Nelson of Corrington, Tn., and Zola Henegar of Halls, Tn.; brother, Earl Walker of Mascot, Tn.; and a special friend, Joy Hutsell. Several nieces, nephews, other extended family, and a host of friends also survive. 

A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 12, in the Chapel of Bowers Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Rolen, Rev. Ralph Swafford, and Rev. Troy Crowder officiating. 

Interment will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 13, in the Walnut Grove Cemetery. Terry Brown, Nathan Brown, Charlie Miller, and Scott Womack will serve as pallbearers. 

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
