QT and Linda Morphis know how to get into the Christmas spirit. The Morphis family for many years lived off Old Dixie Highway on Smitherman Road, and for over 15 years created a light and music display show each year that multitudes of people would drive from all over to see. It was a Christmas Wonderland.
A couple of years ago the Morphis family decide to downsize with a move to East Ridge. A family known for casting over half a million lights (though he admits he would hate to actually count them), said that they have been decorating for almost 20 years. It was time to make a move and they realized change does not come easy.
It took six storage buildings to store their Christmas display materials. The garage and yard display once called Christmas Land of Catoosa County is still talked about today long since it has gone.
The move to Edward Terrace in the Mission Oaks neighborhood now sees a scaled down but growing display as they cross the hill towards the Morphis residence. This is their second Christmas in Mission Oaks and already we see the Christmas lights display expanding from last year’s lights. Once parents and children find out the relocation of the Morphis families, long lines usually follow as everyone enjoys seeing the display.
The photos captured and illustrated just doesn’t properly give the WOW expression you see when you approach and drive by the illuminating lights and displays.
Mr. Morphis Christmas Land display is on Edward Terrace in East Ridge, just a few minutes off John Ross Road. The lights are on from 6-10 p.m. each night through New Year’s Day.
