Santagata, Raphael Ray (Etowah)

Raphael (Ray) Santagata, 92, of Etowah, Tennessee and formerly of Knoxville, died on Tuesday, April 25, 2017. 

He was born in New York City, was a WWII Veteran, a member of the Army Air Corp having fought in the battle of Iwo Jima, and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Mr. Santagata was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Victoria.

Survivors include his son Randy Santagata of Knoxville; step-daughter Lola Preston;  step-son Matthew Peck, both of North Carolina; brother John Santagata of New York; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends Sunday, April 30, from 5-7 p.m. at the Serenity Funeral Home & Cremation Center Chapel in Etowah.

A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date.

Serenity Funeral Home & Cremation Center is in charge of arrangements.
