Wickam Receives Lee’s Excellence In Advising Award

Dr. Mark Wickam has been named the winner of Lee University’s 2017 Excellence in Advising Award. Lee President Dr. Paul Conn officially recognized Wickam for this award during commencement. 

Dr. Wickam, professor of health and exercise science, has been a part of the Lee family since 1987. He currently teaches classes such as Kinesiology, Physiology of Exercise, Cardiovascular Health, and Exercise Testing and Prescription. He was the first coach of the Lee women's volleyball, women's tennis and men's tennis programs. He coached volleyball for one year, men's tennis for nine years, and women's tennis for two years. 

He also served as director of Field Experiences for the Helen DeVos College of Education from 1997-2000. 

Dr. Wickam earned his Doctor of Arts from Middle Tennessee State University, his Master of Education from University of Southwestern Louisiana, and his Bachelor of Science from Lee College ( now Lee University). 

The Excellence Awards are the highest honors presented to Lee faculty members. The recipient of the Excellence in Advising Award is chosen by a faculty committee, which reviews a three-year history of student advisor evaluation data as well as other information provided by the nominating department chairs and deans.
