Dr. Terry Loher of Hixson has been honored by the Tennessee Chiropractic Association with the Keith D. Bailey Chiropractic Service Award for his dedicated service to others.
“Dr. Loher has distinguished himself by giving of his time and talents to make a positive impact on the profession,” said TCA Executive Director Tiffany Stevens. “We were pleased to have the opportunity to recognize his commitment to his country, his community and to chiropractic.”
For seven years, Dr. Loher served in the United States Navy as a hospital corpsman. Driven by a passion for helping others, he also used his knowledge and training to work as a paramedic in his off hours. During this time, he suffered a severe neck injury and through his recovery found chiropractic.
Dr. Loher attended Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. He graduated with his Doctorate of Chiropractic degree in 2005 and began practicing in East Tennessee. Since 2010, he has practiced in Hixson as the owner of Vida Chiropractic where, as the name suggests, he provides high-quality care helping his patients enjoy an active lifestyle and achieve optimal health, said officials.
Dr. Loher and his wife, Gladys Pineda-Loher, spear-head a large blended family of five children, rich in cultural diversity. In her home country of Colombia, Mrs. Loher was an outspoken student leader, but fled to find freedom in the United States. Together they have instilled in their family a gratefulness for the simple things - being happy, being healthy, and being together. Service is also a family trait; a favorite Loher tradition is preparing Thanksgiving meals for those less fortunate in their community.
Through TCA membership, Dr. Loher adds strength to his profession and is willing to share his experience to benefit others. In the spirit of service, he was inspired to build fellowship among his area colleagues and co-founded a Friday morning gathering, dubbed “The Breakfast Club”. These early morning sessions on life and chiropractic are helping doctors find professional support and encouragement while forming lasting friendships, said officials.
The award was presented to Dr. Loher by TCA President Dr. R.J. Crawford at the Southern Chiropractic Conference hosted by TCA in Franklin, Tn. The event featured keynote, Managing Director of Sports Medicine for the U.S. Olympic Committee Dr. Bill Moreau, who oversees all USOC sports medicine activities, both within the U.S. Olympic Training Center clinics and in Olympic Games environments. Throughout the weekend, over 600 participants attended clinical education sessions, social functions and informative meetings on issues impacting the chiropractic profession and all health care professions in Tennessee.
