A 48-year-old Lafayette, Ga., man has been charged with the aggravated statutory rape of a 17-year-old Hamilton County girl.

George Gaines, of 410 Daugherty St., is also charged with 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor after authorities found 10 pornographic images of the girl on his cell phone.

Authorities were called in after the assistant principal at her high school found her with Gaines in his vehicle on the parking lot of the school on Friday.

The vehicle was parked behind a trailer at the outskirts of the parking lot.

Gaines was asked what he was doing and he said he had just brought her some breakfast.

Gaines said he had been told by the girl's father to stay away from her, and he said he recently lost his job because he "had feelings" for her.

He told a deputy he had been to the girl's house before to see her and had been to the school before.

The girl told school staff she had previously kissed him, but she denied any other contact with him.

Gaines agreed to make a statement, and he admitted having a relationship with her. He said he conducted video communications with her via his cell phone and one he gave her. He said he would take screen shots of her while she was nude.

Authorities checked out his phone and found 10 pornographic images, it was stated.

In messages to her, he discussed that she might possibly be pregnant.

Gaines said he recently had sex with her at her house and in Florida earlier.

He said he knew he was committing criminal acts, but he said he loves her.

His bond was set at $165,000.
