Man, 71, Dies Of Injuries Suffered In Jan. 5 Wreck On Oak Street

A 71-year-old man has died from injuries suffered in a traffic accident on Jan. 5 on Oak Street.
 
The victim was William C. Chambers.
 
On Jan. 5 at 3:38 p.m. the Chattanooga Police Department responded to a vehicle crash involving injury at 2400 Oak St.
 
A white GMC pickup truck driven by 25-year-old Deneisa Hemphill was proceeding south on Kilmer Street. A white 1992 Honda Accord driven by Mr. Chambers was proceeding west on Oak Street.
 
The investigation concluded that Ms.
Hemphill is suspected of not yielding to a stop sign and struck the Chambers vehicle in the intersection, police said.
 
Ms. Hemphill was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
 
Mr. Chambers was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
 
The Chattanooga Police Department was notified on Sunday that Mr. Chambers had succumbed to injuries that were sustained in the crash.
 
The Chattanooga Police Traffic Division will continue the investigation once a final determination is made as to the cause of death by the Hamilton County Medical Examiner.
