Dewayne Halfacre Captured In Whitwell On Friday

Dewayne Halfacre has been captured in Whitwell on Friday.

Authorities said he had been in the area for a few days. He was found in a vacant house, and he surrendered without incident.

17 different agencies were involved in the search.

There was a break-in at a church early Friday morning, and tracking dogs were brought in. 

Whitwell schools had been closed on Friday.

Authorities searched in Marion County on Tuesday for Halfacre, who stole a Marion County Sheriff's Department vehicle and wrecked it in front of the Dollar General in Whitwell.

Halfacre of Hohenwald, Tn., then ran into some nearby woods.

 

Afterward, a nearby highway was closed and students were dismissed from Whitwell Elementary, Middle, and High School.


Halfacre was added to the TBI's 
10 Most Wanted list.

 

Halfacre was wanted by the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Department and the TBI for aggravated robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during a dangerous felony, false imprisonment and theft. 

 

Halfacre was wanted for robbing two clerks in a store in Almaville on Jan. 19. He also hadoutstanding warrants for burglary and vandalism out of Marion County, probation violation out of Moore County, driving on a revoked license, leaving the scene of an accident and reckless driving, as well as armed robbery and aggravated assault out of Georgia.
