Cohen Charged With Attempted Murder In Hotel Robbery

Police have charged Matthew Scott Cohen with attempted first-degree murder in connection with a motel robbery.

Cohen, 27, is also charged with especially aggravated robbery and especially aggravated burglary.

Police said the incident happened Sept. 20 at the Howard Johnson in Lookout Valley.

Officers responding on a home invasion call at Room 222 found that Keshawn Woods had been stabbed by a white male identified as Cohen.

The victim said Cohen forced his way into his room. After being stabbed, he was able to call 911.

Taken were a Fossil watch and $50 from a shoe.

The victim was taken to the hospital and rushed to surgery. He is still hospitalized.

Police said the victim was shown a lineup and picked out Cohen and Shanna Szaltzer.

More suspects are being sought.
