A man had his car stolen at the Raceway on South Broad Street on Sunday night and both he and the car thief wound up in jail.

Police said they charged Donald Kenyatta Domino, 23, of 747 E. Henderson Dr., with aggravated assault and reckless endangerment when he came out of the store and started shooting at the driver as she sped off in his car.

Denise Farmer, 35, was caught with the stolen vehicle in East Ridge and charged with auto theft.

At approximately 6:06 p.m., Chattanooga Police responded to 2528 Broad St.
for a shots fired call.

Upon arrival, officers located Domino who said his vehicle was stolen from the parking lot. He said he left his vehicle running with the keys in it when he entered the store.

Domino told police he witnessed a white female driving away in his vehicle and fired shots at the car.

The stolen auto along with the female driving it were located later by East Ridge Police officers at 6519 Ringgold Road.

Chattanooga Police said, "After thorough review of evidence and interviews, investigators determined the parking lot was full of customers when the entire incident took place.

"Investigators determined the vehicle owner was not in imminent danger and unnecessarily used deadly force to stop an auto theft.

Both parties were charged accordingly and transferred to the Hamilton County Jail.

Members of the Major Crimes Bureau are actively investigating this incident.
