Dr. Luis Almeida
Lee University’s Dr. Luis Almeida, associate professor of communication, had an article published on Lifehack, a website dedicated to publishing self-help and how-to articles.
Lifehack, founded by Leon Ho, is read in over 243 countries and has 400,000 subscribers. Since its launch in 2005, Lifehack has reached over 458 million people. Articles vary in subject, such as health, work, and relationships.
Dr. Almeida cited the difficulty of acceptance as contributor to the site as proof of its significance. "Even though LifeHack isn't an academic journal,” he says, “having an article published there is a big honor.”
Dr. Almeida’s article, “6 People Management Tactics to Lead a Diverse Team to Success,” is broken into two parts. The first breaks down why leading and uniting a diverse team can be difficult based on social and cultural differences, as well as one’s own ignorance. “Despite the difficulties, if one leads a diverse team correctly it can be more effective than a less diverse team,” said Dr. Almeida.
The second part of the article lists and explains six people management tactics, such as the importance of flexibility and the ability to relate to one’s team.
