Dear Mr. President,
The year is coming to an end. A good year for the taking back of America, in my humble opinion. I have voted for you proudly. And will continue. Your bravery and stamina is breathtaking. Your actions speak loudly. Your ability as an “outsider” to learn on the job, driving the issues, willing to admit wrongdoings, has given me great confidence in the direction of the Country. knowing what is right is the trick of great leadership. It’s a gift. It’s elusive. And it’s in short supply - and always will be. Speaking plainly and showing gamesmanship has endeared me further into your fold.
However, I have one gripe that I hope you can address - because like you, I’m right most of the time too, in my not so humble opinion. Your comments to the Saudis thanking them for low oil prices was not on mark. It may have been diplomatic, but the reason we have low oil prices is because of the American frackers. I’m sure you know this. You being in the hospitality business, I assume, want low energy prices. Who doesn’t? But to get low energy prices for the long term you need a stable price. Not a price that fluctuates madly. Remember that a frac well loses 50 percent of its production the first year. So if they quit drilling ... you know what’s going to happen fairly soon - more reliance on OPEC and higher prices.
For the sake of the oil patch, an important voting bloc for you, a rousing speech and an apology to the men and women, and companies that invested, sweated, and risked so much to bring these prices to these levels is in order. They’re stinging from the slap. It was just a few years ago they tried to destroy our industry with a flood of oil. We jerked the cloth from under the table they set with good ol’ American black-gold magic.
The best to you and your wonderful family this Christmas,
Stacey Alexander
