Re: Eversole, Saying Certain Areas Need To Remain Green, Urges Passage Of Current Plan Hamilton Version
There are a few points in this article that need clarification.
The Area 9 Plan combines District 9 and 10 which includes Ooltewah, Harrison, Birchwood, Highway 58 and Georgetown. The Area 9 Citizen Committee was formed after community pushback on the original plan draft created by the Regional Planning Agency.
The Citizen Committee rewrote the Area 9 plan to align with the community's vision. After receiving feedback from government officials, the Area 9 Compromise Plan was created to strike a balance between the community's vision and the Home Builders in order to have a better chance for approval.
The Area 9 Compromise Plan maintains A-1 zoning of 2 homes per acre in most of the plan area while allowing 2.5 per acre in only two specific locations that are indicated on the Area 9 Plan map and are located near existing public sewers. Commissioner Eversole also provided this information at the Tuesday night meeting and we felt that a clarification needed to be made to this article.
In addition, there are no specifications included in the Area 9 plan that allow a certain density if a decentralized system is used.
There are five area plans in Plan Hamilton. The Area 9 Citizen Committee wasn't involved with any of the other area plans and doesn't support the proposed amendments to all of the area plans recently proposed by the RPA, Home Builder Association, and Realtors Association.
The Area 9 Citizen Committee is seeking the support of Hamilton County Citizens and County Commissioners for the Area 9 Compromise Plan as it was written by the committee.
