Nellie Lucille Earwood Climer, 75, a resident of Cleveland, gained her reward Friday night with her family by her side in a Chattanooga Healthcare Facility.

Anyone who knew Nellie knew she loved singing and cooking. A devout Christian she loved sharing the hope of Christ with anyone she met with a song. She was widely known for her rendition of “God on the Mountain” and her chicken and dumplin’s. She was an amazing lady who loved her family with all her heart. With a heart a gold and a disposition as sweet as her tea, she could turn that frown upside down in an instant. She attended the South Cleveland Church of God. She was loved and will be sincerely missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents the late W.H. and Rev. Josephine Earwood. Also preceding her in death were her brothers, Dallas and his wife Liddy, Claude “Buddy” and Floyd Earwood and one sister, Sally Ann Earwood.

She leaves behind years of cherished memories with her husband of 56 years Johnny H. Climer of Cleveland. Also surviving is her daughter, Mitzi L. Shields and her husband Josh of Cleveland and grandson Caleb N. Taylor of Gatlinburg; her son, Rodney C. Climer and his wife Janie and their children “the twins” Shane and Shandi Climer all of Cleveland; two brothers, the Rev. Hershel B. Earwood and his wife Carolyn and James “Jimmy” Earwood all of Cleveland; and three sisters, Cora Townsend and Esther Dispain, both of Cleveland, and Katie Bain of Athens.

The Remembrance of Life Service will be conducted on Tuesday, March 20, at 11 a.m. from the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services Wildwood Chapel with Pastor G. Nathan Headrick and Caleb N. Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in the Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery with Shane Climer, Bobby Climer, Josh Shields, Tim Earwood, Jamie Earwood and Daryl Bain serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers will be Reverend Hershel Earwood and Jimmy Earwood. A dove release will conclude the services.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services Wildwood Chapel who has charge of the arrangements. You may share your condolences and your memories with the Climer family at www.jimrushfuneralhomes.com
