Teachers And Guns - And Response

Re: Roy Exum: Only A Gun Stops A Gun

When most people talk about teachers with guns, we think about sweet Ms. Johnson that used to read us books in second grade in the reading corner of the library. We can't fathom Ms. Johnson standing up, reaching into her dress with pockets to retrieve a firearm, take aim over her reading classes and defend the school.

When I hear talk of teachers with guns, I think of Hickok45, a famous youtuber who reviews guns and casually knocks down targets from long distances. Hickok45 has kept his real identity pretty tight lipped, but it is well known that he was a teacher in the state of Tennessee.

Go watch one of his videos and tell me that you wouldn't feel at ease with him at the front of the classroom.

Mr. Exum has it right, only the good guy with a gun can stop the bad guy with a gun.   As far as Hickok45, I can guarantee if he was the teacher of a class, the students at the school he's teaching at would be totally safe.

It boggles my mind that people don't get it, the only sure way to stop a school shooting is to have a good guy with a gun that can respond immediately.  (The key word is immediately).  What's so hard to understand?   It doesn't have to be all teachers, it could be any school personnel.

Thought I would share this article below written by Jeff Cooper...

"I stand behind you in line at the store with a smile on my face and a gun under my shirt and you are none the wiser, yet you are safer for having me next to you. I won't shoot you.  My gun won't pull its own trigger.  It is securely holstered with the trigger covered.  It can't just go off.

"However, rest assured, that if a lunatic walks into the store and pulls out a gun, I will draw my pistol and protect myself and my family and also protect you and your family.  I may freeze up.  I may go to the bathroom in my pants.  I may get shot before I can pull the trigger... but, I won't die in a helpless blubbering heap on the floor begging for my life or my wife or child's life. I won't be that victim.  I choose not to be.

"As for you, I don't ask you to carry a gun.  If you are not comfortable with it, then please don't.  But I would like to keep my right to choose to not be a helpless victim.  There is evil in the world and if evil has a gun, I want one too."
