The Lee University Fly Fishing Program will host the Film and Fly Shootout, a fly casting tournament, followed by the premiere of “Film, Fly, and Foam” by Costa 5 Rivers on Saturday, March 24.

The fly casting tournament will begin at 11 a.m. on the Lee lacrosse field, located behind Lee’s School of Nursing, with the movie starting that evening at 6 in the Screening Room, in Lee’s Communication Arts Building.

“This great event will allow people to come and watch fly fishermen of multiple skill levels demonstrate their hard work in perfecting the art form that is the fly cast,” said Noland Glenn, Lee U Anglers team captain. “It’s a great place to learn from others about fly fishing, tying, and casting, and watch a wonderful film about fly fishing around the world.”

“Film, Fly, and Foam,” which was produced by Costa 5 Rivers, a division of Trout Unlimited, is a movie about the art and practice of fly fishing worldwide.

This event is sponsored in part by Tacky Fly Fishing, Cortland Line Company, Zac Brown’s Southern Grind, FCA Outdoors, and Cold Water Anglers.

The tournament fee is $20, which includes an event T-shirt and a ticket to the movie screening. Admission to the screening only is $5. Both events are open to the public.

Lee University began its fly fishing program in spring 2014 in conjunction with the International Federation of Fly Fishers. Winston Rods currently sponsors the Lee team.
