Gas Prices Drop 3.1 Cents In Chattanooga

Monday, August 13, 2018
Gasoline prices in Chattanooga have fallen 3.1 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.53 per gallon on Monday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 170 stations in Chattanooga. This compares with the national average that has fallen 1.1 cents per gallon versus last week to $2.85 per gallon, according to GasBuddy.

Average gasoline prices on Aug.
13 in Chattanooga have ranged widely over the last five years:

$2.07 per gallon in 2017, $1.83 in 2016, $2.16 in 2015, $3.08 in 2014 and $3.24 in 2013.

Including the change locally during the past week, prices on Monday were 46.0 cents per gallon higher than a year ago and are 2.4 cents per gallon lower than a month ago. The national average has dropped 3.6 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 50.3 cents per gallon higher than a year ago.

Areas near Chattanooga and their current gas price climate:
Knoxville- $2.57, down 3.7 cents per gallon from last week's $2.61.
State of Tennessee- $2.60, down 2.4 cents per gallon from last week's $2.63.
Huntsville- $2.56, down 1.1 cents per gallon from last week's $2.57.

"Yet again, average gas prices have remained fairly quiet. This summer has been remarkably mum at pumps with most states seeing prices move in an uncharacteristically small summer range of 10-20 cents per gallon or less," said Patrick DeHaan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy. "Oil prices continue to be range bound between $67 and around $73 per barrel as of late as competing factors weigh on oil prices at very similar times. Oil inventories have continued to decline, but gasoline inventories remain healthy, and with summer drawing to a close and gasoline demand set to step down, we may see additional relief coming barring any disruptions to the flow of oil or gasoline like a major hurricane. TVA Land Grab

The Georgetown land grab is just ‘Business as Usual’ for TVA. For the past 80 years they’ve shown their stripes in this matter - 170,000 acres seized at LBL, countless acreage taken in the Tennessee River Valley. Land taken for coal and nuclear sites. All by the same play book. All from average people. We want this, you have this, we get this. I worked with TVA as a ... (click for more)
