Historic Hotels of America, the official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, is partnering with Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer Robin Hood and Grandin Hood Publishers to produce a series of commemorative coffee table books capturing the essence of these treasured destinations. Mr. Hood is a former Chattanoogan.
“Grandin Hood Publishers has developed a reputation for producing stunning history books for landmark hotels, built around Robin’s incredible photography,” said Lawrence Horwitz, Executive Director of Historic Hotels of America and Historic Hotels Worldwide. “Our mission is to honor and celebrate the preservation, stewardship and enjoyment of these iconic places, and we want to build this collection for the benefit of current and future generations.”
Historic Hotels of America has inducted more than 300 historic hotels across the United States that have all faithfully maintained their authenticity, sense of place and architectural integrity. The new Historic Hotels of America Collection will capture the unique stories of member hotels, their founding and preservation, and the people and communities that helped them become important landmarks, officials said.
Grandin Hood’s portfolio includes a number of books on notable treasures such as the Grand Hotel (1887) located on Mackinac Island, Michigan; the Don CeSar (1928) in St. Pete Beach, Florida; and the Hotel Bethlehem (1922) in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, among others.
Grandin Hood President Robin Hood has dedicated his career to capturing not only the history, but the value of the country’s most wonderful places.
Mr. Hood said, “This is important work, not only to document the history but to celebrate the life and contemporary amenities of these destinations. Our books often become popular retail items for hotel partners, and we also provide a library of high-resolution images for their continued use in marketing efforts.”
