The oldest volunteer women’s organization in Chattanooga, the Junior League of Chattanooga (JLC), announces its 2018-19 Executive Board. JLC was founded in 1917 to empower women through leadership training and development to take action in their communities. Members of JLC are accomplished collaborators who build coalitions, identify community needs, and develop effective and responsive programs to meet those needs.
This year, JLC is partnering with the Hamilton County Department of Education by forming the JLC Adopt-a-Teacher program. Members of the organization will be working closely with new K-5 teachers in Hamilton County’s Opportunity Zone schools, assisting with special projects and providing support throughout their first year. This program is part of JLC’s A League of Learners initiative, which is focused on fostering lifelong learners in the Chattanooga community.
