It was an evening mostly of old favorites as the Chuck Wagon Gang sang to over 150 fans at the Hullander Farm in Apison on Sunday night.

The evening included favorites like “Church in the Wildwood”, “After the Sunrise”, “Echo’s from the Burning Bush”, “I’ll fly away” and songs from their latest recording “No Depression in Heaven, songs of the Carter Family.”

Among those attending were Bishop and Mrs.

Isaac Obure from Kenya.  Bishop Obure oversees 47 Churches of God.  The Bishop said they had  4,800 baptized last year.

The Chuck Wagon Gang is made up of Shaye Smith, owner and granddaughter of original alto Anna Gordon Davis,  Melissa Kemper, Stan Smith and Karl Smakula.  This legendary group was started in 1936.

The Hullanders host the Red Back Hymnal Singings every third Sunday night in the month.  The singings are free but a love offering is taken.
