Chattanooga Wreaths across America will be collected from Chattanooga National Cemetery on Jan. 25
For the 2019 Christmas season, Wreaths across Chattanooga was tremendously successful. This Chattanooga Wreaths across America event set a record with the number of wreaths placed at 13,284 and almost $150,000. This shattered the previous community efforts by over 30 percent.
To everyone that participated, no matter in what way, thank you for remembering, honoring and teaching about our veterans interred at Chattanooga National Cemetery, said officials.
Wreaths will be collected from the gravestones and placed in recycling bins on Saturday, Jan. 25, at 8:30 a.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery. Volunteers should park at the cemetery. Anyone desiring to remove a wreath from a loved one’s gravestone, please remove prior to Saturday, Jan. 25.
For 2020, the mission of Wreaths across Chattanooga will remain to place a wreath on every gravestone at Chattanooga National Cemetery and in so doing we shall Remember - all Chattanooga area veterans who served our country, Honor - the lives of those who served and made the ultimate sacrifice, and Teach - the value of freedom and learn about those who preserved our freedom.
This is an opportunity to connect “The Greatest Generations” with the “Generation of Hope” and an opportunity to honor the Chattanooga Heroes.
