Marcus Rutherford
A Chattanooga man who allegedly “dragged around” and shot at his girlfriend on Monday has been charged with aggravated domestic assault.
Police responded to a domestic violence call to 7738 Gann Road. After they arrived, Marcus Rutherford, 32, and Christel Walker were both detained.
According to Rutherford, the girlfriend came over to his residence to talk about possible infidelity on his part. She then allegedly began “brutally” beating him, and began damaging parts of the house.
Rutherford then said she began dragging him through the house, and then outside of the house and down the stairs. Rutherford then said he broke free, grabbed his pistol, and shot at the floor to deter her from continuing her assault.
The girlfriend had a similar story, but she said Mr. Rutherford was the one who was doing the assaulting. She claimed he beat her and dragged her around the house. When police inspected Rutherford’s body, they did not see any evidence of being beaten.
On the other hand, Ms. Walker had visible cuts, bruises, and scratches on her body. Ms. Walker was transported to Erlanger Hospital for treatment.
Rutherford was also charged with felony reckless endangerment, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
