Humane Educational Society Has New Hours And Adoption Fees

  • Tuesday, January 14, 2020

The Humane Educational Society is starting 2020 with new shelter hours and new pet adoption fees. It will be open for surrendering pets, and visiting/adoption Monday through Saturday from 12-5 p.m. and closed on Sunday.

These different hours and closing Sunday will allow staff more time to provide a clean and sanitary environment for the animals.

"Keeping our aging facility clean and disease free is a huge responsibility for our animal care staff, said Phil Snyder, executive director. "We are confident that this change in hours, especially with limited daylight hours in the winter, will not affect our adoptions in any way."

Animal Services (Control) will be in full operation from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.  and responding to emergency calls after hours and on Sundays.

The new adoption fees are $50 for dogs and cats. Puppies under six months are $100 (to encourage the adoption of older dogs).

Pets that have been at the shelter three months or longer may be adopted for $25. Senior adopters, (65+) or people adopting senior pets (7+) may be adopted for $35. Senior adopters adopting senior pets is $25.

Rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, and other small critters range from $5 to $25.
