U.S. Air Force Veteran Retired As A Supervisor With TVA

Edward “Ed” Paris, 73, of Soddy Daisy, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2020, in the Hospice Care Center. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Frances A. Pankey Paris; father, Willard Rankin Graham; brothers, DeLeon Shaw, Murphy Paris, William Paris, and Francis Paris; sisters, Aretha Johnson and Naomi Cothran. He was a 1964 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School.   

He received a football scholarship to Tennessee State A & I University. He was a veteran in the U.S. Air Force.  He earned his bachelor’s degree from Athens State College. Edward retired from TVA as a supervisor.  He was a lifelong member of Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity.  

Survivors include his former wife of 48 years, Dr. Mary Paris; sons, Corey Paris of Chattanooga and William Paris of Salinas, CA; daughter, Dr Tammy Paris of Murfreesboro, six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters, Mary Joyce Strong and Gladys Paris; a host of nephews; nieces; cousins; other relatives and friends.  

In lieu of flowers and cards, please make a donation in his memory to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis.  

He will lie in state on Thursday, Feb. 13, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.  

Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. in the chapel.
