Leadership Summit On The Horizon To Be Held For Middle And High School Girls

  • Tuesday, February 18, 2020

Girls Leadership Summit for middle and high school girls will be held at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in the University Center from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday, March 21. Topics will range from Confidence, Self-Awareness, Self-Care, Support Systems/Resources and more.

"In order to create sustainable engagement and continued community collaboration, we are committed to continuing the work by meaningfully interacting with the attendees throughout the year," organizers said.

“GLS is designed to kick-start a movement of leadership workshops and skills training, while also offering opportunities for continued social and emotional growth,” said Shawanna Kendrick, GLS Steering Committee co-chair.

GLS is free and open to any middle and/or high school girl. Registration is underway, but space is limited. In addition, sessions specifically for parents will be offered during the day.

"In May of 2019, a group of diverse, professional women in the community met with a common goal and mission of educating, empowering and preparing young girls for success in school, at home and in life. Since that time and in collaboration with dozens of women from multiple sectors of the community, these women have been hard at work planning GLS with tomorrow’s female leaders in mind," officials said.

To register, go to GLS2020.Eventbrite.com.
