Nicholas Harmon

Nicholas Cullen Harmon left us unexpectedly and much too soon on March 21, 2020.

He is survived by his parents, Michael Harmon and Tracie (Randy) Moore, his paternal grandparents, Paul and Candy Harmon, his maternal grandparents, Tommy and Glenda Lockman, his great-grandmother, Ruby Clark, his brothers and sisters, Ellison, Hazel, Jesse, Alisha, Haley, Dustin, Cameron, Miranda, and Nicholas, his aunt, Diane Smith, his uncle, Michael Lockman, his cousins, Minnie and Juliette, and many other family members and friends.

Nick was predeceased by his great-grandfather, Harold Clark, his uncle, Paul Harmon, his brother Henry Harmon, and his cousin, Mitchell Lockman.

Nick shared a lifelong love of reading with both his parents.  He loved animals and brought home hurt and abandoned pets all his life.  We saw squirrels, sugar gliders, lizards, mice, cats, and of course, his beloved dogs over the years. He was a history buff and a heavy-metal fan.  He could surprise and sometimes shock you with his sharp observations about politics and society.  Nick loved to cook and made some of the best ribs we’ve ever eaten.  He hoped to be an author and was working on the outline for a book. It was a joy to talk through his ideas with him.

Nick also struggled.  Mental illness and addiction are hard companions.  Nick battled both for many years.  He always seemed to be getting better and we all wished for a different outcome.  He has left all of that behind but has also left all of us with a huge hole in our hearts.

A private celebration of life service will be held at a later date.

Contributions in Nick’s name may be made to Hamilton County Mental Health Court, 1100 Market St, Suite 600, Chattanooga, Tn. 37402 or Mark Making, PO Box 4271, Chattanooga, Tn. 37405.
