Jonnie Lamar Queen
Jonnie Lamar Queen, age 81, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life, Tuesday April 7, 2020 at a local hospital.
Jonnie was born Jan. 3, 1939 in Chattanooga, Tn., a son of the late Woodrow Wilson and Dorothy Oaks Queen, Sr. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Montez W. Queen, and brothers, David B. Queen and Aaron L. Queen.
Jonnie was a 1957 graduate of Ooltewah High School and worked many years for Roper Corporation and was retired from General Electric.
He was a member of Little Prospect Baptist Church where he was a former choir director and a deacon and recently was attending Eleventh Avenue Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Reba Ponders Queen of the residence; sons and daughters-in-law, LaMarr and Sylvia Queen, Jr., of Seguin, Tx., Chris Queen, Sr. of Cohutta, Ga., Timmy and Christie Ponders of Dalton, Ga.; brother and sister-in-law, Woodrow and Linda Queen, Jr. of Kernersville, N.C.; sister, Ada Marie Hixson of Mobile, Al.; grandchildren, Christopher and Grace Queen, Ashlye Queen, Christina Frye, Tiffany and Chris Reynolds, Toni Ponders and Justin Singleton, Mikayla Ponders and Kyle Parrish, Harli Ponders, Jessica Gracia, Patrick and Carissa Gracia and Kayla Gracia; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Queen, Jax Frye, Makaylynn Frye, Brinlee Reynolds, Braxton Parrish, Owen Parrish, Emma Serna, Alina Gracia, Olivia Gracia and Kinsler Ortiz; special niece, Tiona Poe; and several other nieces, nephews and many friends.
Private graveside services will be held at Hamilton Memorial Gardens and a public memorial service at a later date.
