On May 22, 2020, Ralph Moser lost his battle with multiple long term medical conditions. He put up a long and brave fight, but God finally relieved him of his suffering.

Ralph was the first born son of Mary Helen and Ralph Moser Sr. He was born January 19, 1948. He spent his childhood years in East Chattanooga then moved to the Harrison area where he lived the rest of his life.

He is survived by two brothers, Ronald and Larry Moser. He lost his third brother, David, a year ago to heart disease. He has numerous cousins, aunts and an uncle in Scott County, Tn. and in Knox County. His father’s relatives were located in Ohio. He has several nieces and nephews in the Harrison area.

Ralph received his accounting degree at Tennessee Tech University. In 1972, he married his wife of 48 years, Linda Marie (Tittle). They had three sons,: Joseph Dewayne, wife Allison and sons, Connor, Reese, and Ryan; Jeremy Todd, wife Summer, daughter, Elisabeth and son, Jack; and Joshua Lee who has a grumpy old cat named Griff.

Ralph loved working outside on his beloved farm with his boys. He taught them about machinery, bailing hay, caring for cattle, working with tools, and figuring how to solve problems when they pop up.

This gave them a good foundation to go into their various professions. He was very proud of his sons. His five grandchildren gave him such joy, each one special to him.

Some of his favorite childhood memories are of his Grannie Walker in Robbins, Tn. He picked blackberries, worked in the garden, played in a cold mountain stream, skipped rocks I the blue hole, and ate the best fried apple pies ever. As a young man, he served in the Army National Guard for six years. He also enjoyed being a scout master at Harrison United Methodist Church in the 90s. Being an Eagle Scout himself, he loved passing that knowledge to young scouts.

His professional life as an accountant was at UTC for almost 30 years. He worked his way up to Budget Director and Assistant Vice Chancellor of Finance.

His true passion was his farm and raising his cattle. Riding on his tractor, whether it was for bailing hay, bush hogging, scraping the driveway or plowing a field, was just pure joy to him. He loved the land, the trees, and the animals. It was very hard for him to give up farm work when he could no longer climb up on that old International tractor. But he had many happy years building his home, working the land, and raising his children.

The Moser, Tittle and Walker families have been so instrumental in helping us get through this long battle. We have been blessed to have our families so close and so willing to help in any way.

With the current pandemic, and per Ralph’s wishes, we will just have a graveside service on Tuesday, May 26at 2 p.m. at Hamilton Memorial Gardens on 153 in Hixson. Officiating will be Rev. Adam McKee and Ed Barham.

Arrangements are under the care of the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
