Omega Barber
Omega B. Ward Barber, 70, of Chattanooga, passed away on Friday, May 22, 2020, in a local hospital.
She was a 1968 graduate of Riverside High School. She attended Chattanooga State Community College and received her associate's degree. Omega was a member of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church. She was on the Hit and Miss Bowling League and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. Omega retired from Erlanger Health System after many years of service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Barber; mother, Bessie Finley; father, George Church; stepfather, James Ward, Sr.; sisters, Sarah Green, Betty Kyner, and Sylvia Douglas; brother, James Ward, Jr.
Survivors include her son, Alfred Ward, Sr.; god-daughter, M. Fran Pierce; brothers, Bennie (Sandra) Ward, Sr., all of Chattanooga, and Calvin Fletcher of Atlanta, GA; sisters, Rose M. Bouie of Chattanooga, Gloria D. Ward of Spring City, Tn., Queen A. Glass, and Mary Church, both of Chattanooga; sister-in-law, Lillian Ward of Chattanooga; several nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends.
Omega will lie in state on Saturday, May 30, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home with the family service to follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Alexander J. Bullard as the eulogist. Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.
