Local Venture Legal Earns B Corporation Certification

Local Venture Legal, PLLC, a Chattanooga-based business and tax law practice with a stated mission to foster sustainable and equitable economic development, has announced that is has officially become a Certified B Corporation.

According to B Lab, the nonprofit certifying body of B Corporations, “Certified B Corporations are businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose.

B Corps are accelerating a global culture shift to redefine success in business and build a more inclusive and sustainable economy.” Local Venture Legal joins this rapidly growing movement of over 3,358 companies from 150 industries in 71 countries along with the likes of Patagonia, Ben & Jerry’s, New Belgium Brewing, and Hootsuite.

“When I created the concept of Local Venture Legal, I knew that I wanted it to be more than a law firm. I wanted to make a statement and be a force for economic change. These values are shared among all B Corps,” said LVL founder and attorney Whitney Standefer-Smith. “The B Corp movement is so important to the future of business and economics in general. We are incredibly proud to finally be able to join this community filled with such amazing companies and visionary leaders.”

Local Venture Legal is a woman-owned transactional legal practice focused in the areas of business law, tax law, and succession and estate planning. It is also the creator and sole sponsor of the LVL Up program which offers pro bono and reduced rate legal assistance to qualifying small businesses.
