Llewellyn Boyd of Chattanooga, died at his home peacefully with family. Lew was 92.

 

He graduated from McCallie School class of 1946. He also graduated from Dartmouth College in 1950; after returning from the Korean War retiring as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy. After returning from college Lew joined Trooter, Boyd and Keese Insurance Agency where he worked with his Dad and his Uncle Henry Trotter. Lew bought the agency and renamed it A.G.A. Inc. (Associated General Agency, Inc.)                                                                                                                 

 

Lew grew up swinging a golf club early in life and became an avid golfer and supporter of the sport; he was a life member of The Southern Golf Association and a founding member of The Honors. Lew split time on the golf course to time on the water when he dove into fly fishing with his childhood friends. They together traveled the world to land that next “trophy” fish. Lew also had a deep love for animals, especially his Samoyed dogs Kiska and Attu, who were always at his side for a treat or a petting. Lew was Chairman at McCallie School, Girls Preparatory School, Hunter Museum, and a trustee of Tennessee Aquarium.                                                                                                            

 

Lew was preceded by his parents, A. Pollack and Gertrude Boyd and Pollack A. Boyd, son.

 

He is survived by his wife Ann C. Boyd of 67 years; Bobbie B. Kwasnik ,daughter (Robert); Martin C. Boyd, son (Candace) and H. Llewellyn Boyd, son (Kay), and 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

 

Lew was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. Any donations can be contribute to Polly Boyd Golf scholarship or St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.
