Arlin Dee “Dick” Blackwell, 79, of Benton, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2020.

He was a lifelong resident of Polk County, and a member of Welcome Valley Baptist Church.  Mr. Blackwell loved to garden and whittle, when he was still able.  He loved flowers, collecting knives, rocks and anything outdoors.  Most of all he loved Jesus and anything that had something to do with Jesus.  He would always say “make sure you get me something with The Good Lord on it.”

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Nancy Blackwell and one brother, Benny Blackwell.

Survivors include his beloved family, Katie Blackwell, Mary (Charles) Elliott; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles; one special aunt, Linda; and his Lucy.

A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 16 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home, with Pastor Charles Moore and Pastor Joe Hatcher officiating.  Interment will follow at Old Ocoee Baptist Church Cemetery with Mike Pike, Timothy Keith, Nick Burger, C.J. Keith, Logan Ballew and Travis Blackwell serving as pallbearers.  Rick Bridges and Finley Bridges will serve as honorary pallbearers.

His family will receive friends from 3-4 p.m. on Sunday prior to the service at the funeral home.
