Tennessee Hunting And Trapping Guide - The Same But Different

  • Tuesday, August 4, 2020

The 2020-21 Tennessee Hunting and Trapping Guide is out and being delivered to stores where licenses are sold. Check out changes to rules and regulations for this upcoming deer season in the “What’s New” section on page 2 of the guide.

Tag Before Your Drag is a new requirement for the 2020-21 big game seasons. Hunters must now tag the animal before transporting the harvest. This can be done electronically with a smartphone or with physical paper tags.

Hunters planning on heading to one of the over 100 Wildlife Management Areas in the state are encouraged to check the rules and regulations for that area in the WMA section before going afield.

Middle Tennessee hunters may notice that the Gallatin Steam Plant WMA is no longer listed as a WMA for 2020-21. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency managed that area as a WMA through an agreement with Tennessee Valley Authority. Recently the TVA asked that the proclamation designating the area a WMA be repealed during a recent TFWC meeting. Construction of a new TVA facility on the property made this change necessary.
