Gary Lynn Myers, 65, of McDonald, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2021 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. Gary will always be remembered for his jokes, humor and caring for his family and friends. He served for many years as a mechanic, owning Myers Auto Service in McDonald. He also had a creative love for working with classic cars and was considered a McDonald icon.
He was preceded in death by his son, Steven Lynn Myers; father, Robert “Bob” Myers; grandson, Jace Steven Taylor; paternal grandparents, Joseph and Mamie Carr Myers; maternal grandparents, Ted and Elsie Triplett; mother-in-law, Nettie Garner; and sister-in-law, Louise Newman.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Lois Garner Myers; daughter, Angie Taylor; son-in-law, Scott Taylor; mother, Dot Triplett Myers; granddaughters, Brooke Taylor and Sydni Taylor; brother-in-law, James (Pat) Garner; loving playmate pet, Bear Dog; and many special friends that were like brothers to him.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 22 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home, with Pastor Jason Ollis officiating. Interment will follow at Lee Cemetery, with Mark Summerville, Gerald Marshall, Jim Yoder, Jason Corbitt, Curtis Lockhart, Jeff Chastain, Dale Dotson, Sammy Brown and Marvin Gavin serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Kelley, Vern Kesley and Otis Eaton.
His family will receive friends from 12:30-2:30 p.m. on Friday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
