Dewayne ”Buddy” Smith, 78, of Cleveland, departed this life on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at his residence.
Born on Aug. 23, 1942 in Athens, he spent the majority of his life in Bradley County and attended Big Springs Baptist Church. Buddy was an Atlanta Braves fan, loved collecting coins, traveling, fishing and, above all, spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his mother, whom he adored and was very close with, Beulah Irene Cantrell Smith; daughter, Leann Hines; step-daughter, Angela Guffey; and granddaughter, Nikki Guffey.
Left behind to cherish Buddy’s memory are his loving and devoted wife, Sue Haney Smith; children, Wayne Smith, Angie Wilson (Gary Pederson), Vicky Dale (Adam), Denise Graham (Johnny), Scott Stamey, Jennifer D’Elia(Sal), Kathie Bennett (Josh) and Tyler Sewell; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several extended family and a host of friends.
A Celebration of Life and Homegoing for Dewayne “Buddy” Labron Smith will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 30 at Big Springs Baptist Church, with Pastor Daniel Malone officiating. Interment will follow in Pond Hill Cemetery in McMinn County.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
