Robert P. Himmelsbach died on October 9, 2021, at his home in Ooltewah, Tennessee. He was 88.

Bob was born in Virginia to the late Clifton K. Himmelsbach and Virginia Martin Himmelsbach.

Bob spent his early years moving around the U.S. with his father, a physician with the U.S. Public Health Service. Bob was a graduate of The American University, Washington, DC. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, in which he served during the Korean War.

He was a CPA who for many years maintained an accounting and tax practice in Hixson. He loved his clients and his work. After several unsuccessful attempts to retire, he finally retired in his seventies. He then enjoyed doing tax returns as a volunteer for AARP and counseling clients as a volunteer for SCORE.

He enjoyed his membership in the Chickamauga Investment Club and especially his work as chairman of the Investment Committee.

Bob was a long-time active member of First-Centenary UMC where he held several positions through the years. As his health declined, he more recently attended Christ UMC, near his home.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Ann Pickering Himmelsbach, sons Robert (Sandra) Himmelsbach, and Thomas (Lori) Himmelsbach; daughter, Nina (Dave) Gottes; stepson, Gregory (Sandra) Nipp; stepdaughters, Lynette (Alan) Darr, and Melinda (Andrew) Moniz; grandchildren, Abigail (Jason) Finley, Hailey Bedel, Grace Bedel, Joy Himmelsbach, Jesse Himmelsbach, Rachel (Tye) Youngblood, Luke Darr, Baelli Moniz, Briana Moniz, and Bishop Moniz; and great-grandchildren, Cooper Finley and Rosa Bedel.

His family is grateful to Jacqueline Minor, his loving caregiver, and to Hearth Hospice, especially Janet and Candace.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob's memory to Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga, 1400 Williams Street, Chattanooga, Tn. 37408.
