Betty Jo Smith Dooley, age 88, of Hair Lake Road, Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday morning, November 26, 2021, in a Rome hospital.
A native Chattooga Countian, She was born to the late James Stone Teague and the late Jessie Estel Ray Teague on June 11, 1933. She was a retired sales person from Richie’s Department Store.
Mrs. Dooley was preceded in death by her husbands, Milton Smith and Rev. Sidney Dooley. She was a member of New Antioch Baptist Church.
Surviving are daughter and sons-in-law, Tonya and Danny Pierce and Steve Blalock; sons and daughters-in-law, Milton and Mary Lou Smith, Harrison and Darlene Smith, Terry and Beth Dooley, Danny and Sandra Dooley, and Leon and Charlotte Dooley; special niece, Elaine DeBerry; special nephew, Lamar Smith; 27 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Nov. 28, at 3 p.m. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Roberson officiating, interment in West Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Ryan Trapp, Scotty Trapp, Matt Shadrick, Kevin Smith, Joshua Wilson, and Landon Wilson; honorary pallbearers are members of New Antioch Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2-3 p.m. at the funeral home.
