Shannon, Ruth Ann (Old Fort)

Ruth Ann Shannon, 92, of Old Fort, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, December 6, 2021.

She was born on May 26, 1929 in Old Fort to the late John and Susie Cox Dill.  Throughout life, Ruth Ann loved cooking and baking pies for her family and friends. She also enjoyed talking on the phone to her friends and checking on the sick.

In addition to her parents, John and Susie Cox, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wilburn Sed Shannon; three brothers, Jim Dill, Woodrow Dill and Robert “Dock” Dill; and five sisters, Pauline Dill, Lennie Neilson, Ollie Matthews, Louise Williams and Jessie “Tommie” Williams.

Left to cherish the many memories include her loving sister, Opal Dillard and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 13 in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home, with Pastor Ray Cheathem officiating.  Interment will follow at Dill Cemetery.

Family and friends will gather from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Monday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
