Baylor School officials announced Thursday that Phil Massey will be leaving his position as head football coach.
The announcement comes a month after Massey completed his 16th season. He was hired as Baylor’s head football coach in 2006 and his overall win-loss record is 98-61.
“We are taking the program in different direction,” said Baylor Athletic Director Mark Price. “Coach Massey has been a positive influence on countless players during his tenure. I am thankful for the leadership that he has provided our program for the past 16 seasons, and I wish him and his family the very best. Baylor will now begin the search for his replacement, which will conclude in a timely manner to ensure a successful transition for our program.”
Prior to Baylor, Massey was the assistant coach at Memphis University School for five years, and served as the head football coach from 1993-2001 at Haywood High School in Brownsville, Tenn.
