McCallie's Fowler Wins DII-AA State Decathlon

McCallie School’s Caughran Fowler became the third McCallie athlete since 2018 to win the TSSAA Division II-AA State Decathlon Thursday at Brentwood Academy in Nashville, topping a stout field with 6,793 points. Kendrick Reynolds placed fourth for the Blue Tornado with 6,394 points.

Fowler joins Michael May (2021) and Hakim McMorris (2018) as decathlon state champions over the last six years. A senior, Fowler placed fourth in the state decathlon last year and fifth in 2022.

Fowler placed first in the 100 (10.99) and 400-meter runs (48.11) and second in the 110-meter hurdles (15.20) and was the midpoint leader after five events Wednesday.

Reynolds won the triple jump (44-10.25) and finished second in the high jump (6-0) and long jump (22-9.5).

Elliott Haisten also competed for the Blue Tornado but could not compete on day two because of an injury.

Fowler and Reynolds will join more than 20 additional McCallie track and field athletes May 22 at the TSSAA Division II-AA State Meet in Murfreesboro.
