Douglas Eugene “Doug” Humberger, 61, of Ooltewah, Tennessee, died on February 5, 2021, surrounded by his family.

Doug was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Pollock and his grandparents, Gene and

Blanche Leonard and Roy and Nellie Humberger.

Doug is survived by his father Jim (Ann) Humberger; brothers David and Dennis (Julie)

Humberger ; sister Dianna (Chris) Mahoney; nieces Megan Mahoney and Sarah and Rachel

Humberger; nephews Will Mahoney and Jacob (Morgan), Caleb, and Bryson Humberger;

stepbrother Brent Massey; stepsister Cheryl (Jeff) Viar; and stepson Thomas Walton.

Doug entered the US Navy after high school and served six years. His tours took him around

the world and he especially loved his time in the Mediterranean.

Doug was a craftsman and loved building things with his hands. His specialty was carpentry

and his love for his work showed in the attention to details and finishes. He had a great

reputation for remodeling and construction in Greenville, SC with many repeat customers. Doug

also tried his hand at stained glass and shared his pieces with family and friends who treasure

those works of art.

Doug loved music, especially the classic rock of the 70s, and enjoyed sharing that music with

his family and friends. He and his brothers attended many concerts together over the years and

the stories told were amazing!

Doug was an outdoorsman, spending as much time as possible hiking, climbing, camping, and

in recent years, horseback riding beautiful trails in the TN mountains.

Doug was a caring and loving son, brother, uncle, father, nephew, cousin, and friend who will be

dearly missed by all who loved him. Breathe easy now Doug!

Interment will be on Feb. 18, at 2 p.m. at the National Cemetery, Chattanooga.

Arrangements are by the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway.
