When extreme weather happens or a drastic change in weather occurs, progressives chant climate change and start calling for an end to fossil fuels and gasoline powered engines.
I still remember warnings of a new Ice Age in the mid- 1970s and the fears it spawned of shortages of heating oil and natural gas. That was before billionaire Tom Steyer and others discovered Climate Change and launched an exhaustive campaign to end fossil fuels.
Steyer fought the Keystone Pipeline and opposed a move to repeal CA laws which, among other things, limited refineries thereby driving up the price of fuel. That fact and other rigid regulations explains why gasoline now exceeds $4 a gallon in Los Angeles (KABC, Channel 7, April 19, 2021).
Headlines today read “Freeze advisories in effect from Texas to the Great Lakes.” Does that make sense in a time of rising temperatures and Climate Change? Ask one of Steyer’s disciples and they will, in five thousand words or more, tell you it corresponds perfectly with the science of climate change.
You see, billions of dollars flow freely into the climate change industry at a volume often higher than petroleum flows to us. Europe has just experienced one of the harshest winters since the Little Ice Age of the 1300s. So the multi-billion dollar Climate Change industry spun into action like a windmill in a hurricane. They had to explain how sub-zero temperatures were caused by unusually warm temps caused by burning fossil fuels (Deutsche Welle, Feb 2, 2021).
What they won’t tell you is that fossil fuels weren’t burned at the same volume 800 years ago as now. They count on your never having heard of the Little Ice Age or the Medieval Warm Period. They know most are unaware there is evidence the earth has warmed and cooled in cycles. They don’t talk about any of that on American Idol do they?
Progressives rely on a public enamored with Hollywood scandals, multi-millionaire athletes’ escapades and so-called reality shows. They hope you dwell in a common sense desert so you are ripe fodder to swallow their razzle-dazzle without question.
Beware of the word “debunk.” Progressives immediately tag opposing viewpoints with this term to prove it’s been discredited. Don’t assume anything has been proven false because they use the term freely. It’s also employed to shut down debate. Don’t give up. The same scientific method they tout can often be used to discredit their theories. The problem is they don’t want dialogue.
That’s why they will pivot to name calling like science-denier or anti-intellectual. When this happens, tell them when they can finally state if Pluto is a planet they will be on the road to giving some measure of credibility to the exactness of science.
Since most of their climate change studies are less than 50 years in duration compared to the thousands of years of climate cycles, their claims are just claims. It could all change again as fast as Pluto’s status as a planet was cancelled.
