Tommie Rachel (Thurman) Graham, 78 years young, of Ooltewah, passed away on April 24, 2021, peacefully surrounded by loved ones.

Tommie was born on Nov. 29, to the proud parents, Thomas and Leli Thurman in 1942.  She married Andy J. Graham on Feb. 19 who was the love of her life. She was owned and operated Tommie’s Hair Care Centre for 32 years and honestly loved every minute of it. She was so passionate about people and their hair was her vehicle in to work with them to ensure that they were living the best life possible. She was an active member and president of the Chattanooga Cosmetologist Association. She was also heavily involved with the American Business Women Association where she held every position and always championed the scholarship program to help young girls attend college where without the support it might not have been possible. She attended Chamberlain Memorial Baptist Church.

Tommie was preceded in death by her beloved Andy Graham and her parents, Thomas and Leli Thurman as well as her brother, Wayne Thurman and her sister, Jo-ann Freeman.  

Tommie is survived by her daughters, Gail Farrell, Shirley Graham and Tammy Young as well as her son-in-law, Greg Young. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Hankins and two of her brothers, Carlos Thurman and David Thurman. She was also blessed with six grandchildren, Andrea Hinnard, Mac Gibbons, Rachel Wright, Jaclyn Roberson, David Farrell and Brady Young. She also had many great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly,

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, April 26, at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 27, at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel with the Steve Plemmons of East Ridge Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be given to Alzheimer’s Association of Chattanooga in memorial of Tommie Graham.

The family of Tommie wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Hearth Hospice Organization as they were amazing during this journey especially Jackie and Avis who went above the call of duty.  We would also like to thank all the family and friends who graciously supported Tommie and her family during this most difficult time.
