Hixson's Robby Mason Wins At Boyds Speedway

  • Saturday, May 15, 2021
Friday night racing action took place at two Tennessee Valley area race tracks.

Chattanooga's Boyd's Speedway saw action with Robby Mason of Hixson winning the Late Model feature over Tod Hernandez and Josh Walker. In the 604/Crate Main Event Knoxville's Eli Beets (#109) was victorious over Jesse Lowe and Booger Brooks.

The track celebrates the late Joe Lee Johnson next Friday night with a memorial race sanctioned by the Topless Outlaw Late Model series paying $2,500 to win.
Johnson was the winner of NASCAR's first ever race at Charlotte Motor Speedway in 1960. He was the longtime owner of the now defunct Cleveland Speedway. After Boyd's next Friday the Topless series heads to Rhea County's new Mountain View Raceway in Dayton/Spring City just north of Chattanooga.

In Seymour, Tn., outside Gatlinburg, the 411 Motor Speedway raced a full regular program after recent unrest of possible gas shortages cancelled the Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model series visit to the 1/3 mile clay oval.

"Big Mack" McCarter, home track racer, won the 604/Crate Late Model feature. Jake Teague, Matt Henderson, Jason Cardwell and Rusty Ballenger rounded out the top five finishers.

Saturday the United Championship Racing Alliance series presented by Red Line Synthetic Oil will race round #3 of the 2021 season at Sweetwater's I-75 Raceway between Knoxville and Chattanooga. McCarter was the last winner of UCRA competition back in April at the Tazewell (TN) Speedway. Races kickoff at 7 p.m. for the 604/Crate Late Model UCRA series.
