Interchange In Lookout Valley Is Named For Ray Adkins

Senator Todd Gardenhire has had a resolution passed that names Exit 174, I-24 as the Ray Adkins Interchange.

 

The interchange is in Lookout Valley where the Adkins family has long lived in the vicinity of Adkins Road.

 

Mr.

Adkins has an extensive military resume. He traveled for the U.S. Army around the world.

 

He is retired from Sunshine Biscuit Company, his civilian job. After that, he worked several years at the Criminal Court Clerk's Office.

 

Mr. Adkins has long been a member of the Armed Forces Week Committee. 

 

He is a member of the Viet Nam Veterans of America Chapter 203 as well as the Chattanooga Area Veterans Council.

 

He has been honored by Freedoms Foundation Valley Forge.

 

Mr. Adkins is active in the Lookout Valley Neighborhood Association.

 

He serves on a number of local boards, including the City Industrial Development Board and the City Board of Zoning Appeals.

 

His wife Charlotte retired from Chattanooga Public Schools where she served as secretary to a host of city school superintendents including Dr. Jim Henry and Dr. Harry Reynolds.
