Phyllis Wade
God made Phyllis Wade from the dust of South Knoxville, Tennessee.
She grew up there with her parents, John Wesley Houck and Norah (Billie) Houck and her beloved sister, Lemoyne Houck Clapp. Phyllis attended South High School and The University of Tennessee. She was a member of The UT Singers and a featured soloist in choirs throughout the south.
She married Bob Wade and they had three children (Robbie, Roger and Rhonda). The family moved to Chattanooga where their son Richie was born. Phyllis and Bob lived in the Brainerd section of Chattanooga. Their house was home and hangout to all God's children. Phyllis and Bob Wade were married for over 60 years. They dearly loved four children, 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, precious friends and brother-in-law, Phil Clapp. Phyllis cherished her nieces, nephews & sixty-one first cousins. Anyone who knew her will always remember her love, laughter and nurturing Christian spirit. She is crossing the river Jordan. Lemoyne is rushing through the shallows to hug her.
A Celebration of Phyllis’ Life will be held at a future date to be announced.
Arrangements are under the care of Chattanooga Funeral Home Crematory and Florist East Chapel, 404 South Moore Road, East Ridge, Tn. 37412.
