Mocs Volleyball Travels To Hampton Inn Invitational

  • Wednesday, September 1, 2021

The Chattanooga Mocs’ indoor volleyball team will head to Indianapolis, Ind. for their second tournament of the season – the Hampton Inn Invitational. The tournament is hosted by IUPUI, who the Mocs will play on Friday, Sept. 3. On Saturday, UTC will face Toledo and Western Illinois.

UTC enters the weekend at 1-3 and is on a three-match losing streak. The Mocs opened the season with a four-set win at Georgia State before falling to Memphis and California Baptist to close out the tournament.

The Jaguars are 1-2 to begin the season with their lone win coming in four sets over Bellarmine.

The Fighting Leathernecks are coming off a 2-15 season last year and are off to an 0-3 start in 2021 after suffering losses to Northern Illinois, William and Mary and CSU Bakersfield.

The Rockets have the best record of the four teams in the tournament after capturing two wins last weekend. Toledo defeated Elon and Lehigh and fell in three sets at Virginia Tech.

UTC has played just three matches combined against the three Hampton Inn Invitational opponents. It is the first meeting for the team vs. IUPUI. UTC leads the series against WIU 1-0, while Toledo holds a 2-0 edge in the series history over the Mocs.
