Sue “Sue-Bee” Elizabeth Horner, beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Daughter, and Friend, passed away at the age of 60 peacefully in her home on July 11, 2021 with her husband, children, and other close family members by her side. She was able to spend her last weeks at home with her family and friends before leaving this world to be with her Heavenly Creator.

Sue-Bee was born in Ogdensburg, NY and graduated from Merritt Island High School in Merritt Island, Florida. She met the love of her life, Mark Horner, while working at Skeeter’s Diner in Gainesville, Florida. There, they married and had two children before relocating to Chattanooga, Tennessee where she has lived ever since. Sue-Bee was a very proud wife and mother. Though her favorite title was grandmother, or “BeeBee” as she was so lovingly called. Professionally, Sue-Bee held many jobs as a waitress, travel agent, sale’s person, CNA, and caregiver over the years, which brought her much joy and close friendships. About 10 years ago, Sue-Bee once again returned to sales, selling buses for Premier Transportation. Her people skills and love of her job earned her a one of a kind tribute which she was so ecstatic to accept. A bus, “The Sue-Bee”, was lovingly named after her.

Sue-Bee was a people person who loved to laugh and could hold a conversation with anyone. She enjoyed floating by the pool or in the lake, finding good deals at garage sales and thrift stores, and taking her granddaughter to the movies to eat popcorn for dinner. Sue-Bee was a member of St. John UMC where she enjoyed worshiping and volunteering. She loved returning to her family cottage in Ogdensburg, NY before making her way to Jefferson Canadian Club in Quebec, Canada to vacation each year, both her favorite places on earth. But above all else Sue-Bee enjoyed the time spent with her family and friends. She was a giver who loved to celebrate all other’s successes and happiness. She was a rock and a listening ear for those in despair. She gave the best advice and the absolute best hugs. Sue-Bee believed life was an adventure. She had a great attitude, an infectious smile, and big feelings that often brought her to tears. She taught so many that “crying is okay.” But somehow, she made us all smile even brighter and love even harder. She will be dearly, dearly missed. And we will talk to her everyday.

Sue-Bee is preceded in death by her father, Gordon McGuire, and her mother, Eleanore McGuire. She is survived by her loving husband, Mark Horner, brothers and sisters, Terry, Russel, John, and Lori, her children, Graham and Kate, and granddaughter, Cadence.

A private celebration of her life will be held at her church St. John UMC on Sept. 11, at 2 p.m. with her family and friends. All who knew and loved Sue-Bee are invited to attend.
