John Harris

John David Harris, 74, of Apison, Tennessee, passed away on September 10, 2021, after a long and courageous battle with MS. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Cleve and Vera Reno Harris. 

He is survived by his wife Carol Joy Harris, his son Dr. Chip Harris (Dr. Cindy Tang), grandchildren, Ella Grace Harris and Samuel Thomas Harris, and nieces Allison (Mark) Shoemaker and Audra (Allen) Green. 

He was a 1964 graduate of City High School in Chattanooga. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Chattanooga, where he played basketball for the Mocs and was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He retired as the VP and GM of Millwrights Inc., a family-owned construction firm.  He volunteered his time as a youth baseball coach at East Brainerd, served as a president of the McCallie Tornado Club booster association, and was a member of Ridgedale Baptist Church.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Hospice of Chattanooga, especially Lora Moss and Tonya Sexton, for their support and care. 

Due to Covid concerns, there will be a private graveside service for the family.
